Morning tea at Yarragon and lunch at Foster where you have a choice of cafe's, pizza, a bakery or the pub which is good too. After lunch we'll head through Fish Creek and the back roads to Korumburra and Poowong. The ride will finish at Tooradin with an ice-cream if the weather is good, or even if its not. Mt Macedon Memorial Ride. Venue: BP Lyndhurst Category: MW Organized Ride We'll ride directly to the assembly point at Centennial Park at the foot of Mt Macedon to meet with the other Ulysses branches. At 1200 we will accompany the larger group in a ride to the cross at the top of Mt Macedon for the traditional memorial service in respect members who have ridden on in the past year. On completion of the service we can either return to Centennial Park for a BBQ lunch (supplied by Geelong branch) with the other branches or head through the hills to Lancefield for a quick lunch before returning to the peninsula. Total ride distance is either 220 or 260km depending on where we have lunch. Be advised, tolls will apply on this ride as we will be using freeways including Citylink. Coal Creek & Sausage Sizzle Venue: Pearcedale Shops Category: MW Organized Ride Please be fed, watered, fuelled and ready to go by 9:30. If you like scenic rolling hills, bendy roads and lots of cows, this is the ride for you. We’ll head out via Lang Lang and Ripplebrook on some nice roads (some rarely ridden I think) and make our way back to Korumburra and Coal Creek. There won’t be a morning tea stop as we’ll arrive at our destination about 11am or so where we’ll put on an early BBQ lunch (snags, burgers, onions in bread) at a very reasonable price. Bring your gold coins. Drinks and assorted snacks are available from the nearby Coal Creek shop. For those not keen on a BBQ the usual food outlets including the pub and the bakery are available in Korumburra. After lunch we’ll do a casual wander through the Coal Creek settlement where I’m assured there will be a few displays operating on the day. After that we’ll head south from Korumburra for a scoot along some more nice roads to Loch, Poowong and back to Tooradin for an ice-cream if you’re up for it. The total ride distance is about 210km. Pray for good weather and it should be an enjoyable day. Those with thirsty bikes and/or itty bitty tanks can fuel in Korumburra and/or Loch.
