Wings Over Westernport Category: Social Event Steve Gray has invited the branch to attend an open day of the wings over Westernport model aircraft club in Crib Point. We're hoping to get a few bikes for display. There will be demonstrations of different types of radio controlled models, planes, boats, tanks cars and crawlers as well as other local interest groups including the Maritime Centre from HMAS Cerberus, CFA, historical vehicles, Coast Guard and Scouts. ANZAC Dawn Service Venue: HMAS CERBERUS Category: MW Organized Ride The ride to the Dawn Service will meet in the Somerville Hotel carpark at 4:45am for a 5am departure to HMAS Cerberus. Please ensure you have photo ID ready to provide to security at the entry point. This is usually where delays occur. Upon entry, parking will be on the main parade ground as it was last year. Unfortunately there WILL NOT be a Gunfire Breakfast this year due to significant building and roadworks on the base. We are looking into an alternative venue for a breakfast and will advise ASAP. Neil Lyons Beard and Brewery Ride Venue: Pearcedale Shops 9.30am Category: MW Organized Ride We will be riding to Mirboo north and the brewery there for lunch for those who choose ( other lunch option are available), this will be via Lang Lang, Poowong, Korumburra (bakery for coffee and fuel), Arawata, then to Mirboo North for a circuit through Boolarra and back to Mirboo north for lunch and fuel. Home via the Grand ridge road to Hallston, Ellinbank, Ranceby, and back through Poowong, Lang Lang, to Tooradin to end the ride there with i cecreams. Ride will leave from Pearcedale at 9.30. Total distance around 280ks. Should be back at Tooraddin at 3.30 ish. I will call it the brewery and beard ride as I'm putting up a prize for the best beard (real or fake) but must be worn for a good part of the ride. Heading to Neerim sth for lunch via Bayles, Labertouche and Jindivick. Heading home via 2 loops around Neerim east and Buln Buln before heading to Drouin and Lang Lang finishing at Tooradin for coffee or icecream at around 3pm Ride is 210klm long If weather is dogey i will shorten ride and loop home from Jindivick. Lancefield ride Venue: Praecedale shops Category: MW Organized Ride Ron will take us to Lancefield for lunch via Yarra Glen for morning tea. The return will be via Blackwood and finishing at Todd Road service centre at the Westgate Bridge. The total distance is about 350km, thats 200km out and 150 back.
