ANZAC Day Branch Ride - Hastings Cenotaph Venue: Somerville Hotel Rear Car Park Category: MW Organized Ride This year we’ll do a short ride to the Hastings foreshore to attend the traditional ANZAC Dawn Service at the Cenotaph on the foreshore opposite to the RSL. Departure time 05:20hrs sharp. The service commences at 6am, so we need to get away on time and be in position beforehand. On completion of the service members are free to have a reduced gunfire breakfast in the RSL, or, given this is usually crowded, I have booked a table for us at the Beach Hut café in High Street, Hastings. We did this in 2019 and they do a good breakfast and coffee. Anyone planning to come to breakfast at the café should let me know so I can confirm numbers for the booking (it’s a courtesy). Weather permitting, after breakfast we can go for a short ride around the peninsula (Flinders, Arthur’s Seat etc and surrounds) before ending back at Somerville. We should be back by 10am if you have other plans for the day (like watching the Bombers roll Collingwood). Phillip Island - National Vietnam Vets Museum Run. Venue: Pearcedale Shopping Village Servo Category: MW Organized Ride Neil is leading a ride to the National Vietnam Vets Museum New Haven Phillip Island. Leaving from Pearcedale Shopping Village, please be fuelled up and ready to go at 9:15 to enable ride briefing and departure time of 9:30am. Leaving Peacedale at 9:30 the run down to the Island via the Bass Coast. The intention is to visit the National Vietnam Vets Museum for a couple of hours, morning tea is available at the museum cafe. The NVVM seeks to remember, interpret and understand the experience of the veterans of Australia's longest war and the enduring impact. Entry fee is $15.00 general and $12.00 concession, to be paid at entry by those attending, or available on line. Then the short ride back over the bridge to San Remo for lunch. Final run home ending at Tooradin. ETA 10:45 at the museum, the ride should finish around 2:30 at Tooradin. Branch Ride Woolamai-Bass Coast Venue: Pearcedale Shopping Village Servo Category: MW Organized Ride Sunday the 16th of May the ride starts at the Pearcedale Shops, we will be leaving at 9.30am sharp, please be fuelled up and ready to go at 9.15 ready for ride briefing. From there we head towards Lang Lang, Drouin South, Poowong and to Korumbarra for smoko at the bakery and fuel. Please note this is the only opportunity to get fuel. Approx 150km. Then we head back to Poowong, Bena, Kongwak, Almurta and down to Kilcunda pub for lunch, there is also the General Store at Kilcunda which does food.
